Loss and Renewal

By |2021-02-01T17:12:50-05:00February 2nd, 2015|Crisis, Loss and Renewal, Personal Growth|

“My heart is drenched in wine, you will be on my mind forever” Norah Jones Loss. It is all-consuming. We see it all around us. The media is filled with its images and the Haiti earthquake is a painful reminder to us all that loss can strike at any moment. When loss hits close to home, it cuts deep, leaving us with a sense that it will be with us forever. But the point is that we are not meant to escape from its heartbreaking grip. We are meant to work through our pain and loss, because it is through loss that the most incredible opportunities for growth and renewal occur. […]

Watching Groundhog Day, Again

By |2017-07-13T17:43:57-04:00February 1st, 2011|Crisis, Loss and Renewal, Love Will Keep Us Alive|

Watching the movie Groundhog Day again, I was surprised to realize it was filled with metaphors about life, love and conscious evolution. The motivation and reward for the main character's conscious awakening was love. Often romantic love, parental or other love bonds can help propel the soul to evolve. I experienced this in my own life with my husband, Bob, who died over a year ago.

The 5 Stages of Coping with Crisis

By |2017-07-13T17:43:59-04:00August 3rd, 2010|Career and Business, Crisis, Loss and Renewal|

Shock, Assessment, Plan, Support, Rebuild I wrote this article in January, 2009, over a year and a half ago. According to my web stats, it is one of my most read posts. I remember when I was writing it, our family was going through a person crisis, as my husband battled cancer. At the time, I considered titling the post, “What fighting cancer has taught me about coping with the current economic crisis”.  I decided not to, because I didn’t feel it was appropriate to bring in my personal story and experiences into a public blog (have my perceptions of social media ever changed since!). Yet, as I was writing it, I realized how much the coping mechanisms for any crisis (whether personal, professional, global or local) have many of the same aspects when it comes to how they affect us and how we react to them. I am sharing this post again here today, because I hope it will help anyone who is trying to cope with a difficult crisis in their lives – [...]

Time to bring out the voice of our ‘New Self’

By |2017-07-13T17:44:00-04:00June 9th, 2010|Guest Blogggers & Interviews, Mind, Body & Spirit|

The shift from separation into unity consciousness is happening world wide. It is only as we are able to merge our divine and human selves into one voice that our outer authority will change. By doing our own inner work and clearing the “demons” so to speak, we give rise to our higher self and it is able now to speak clearly.

Crisis in Action

By |2017-07-13T17:44:00-04:00May 24th, 2010|Guest Blogggers & Interviews, Mind, Body & Spirit|

Energy Posting by Brenda Harley Gazing out my window and wondering yet again about life and where we are headed, my eyes are drawn to the magnificent pine that sits on the edge of our property. It is well over a hundred years old and I am filled with such gratitude every time I look upon it. Its value lies in its enduring beauty, nothing more. If it were cut down and used to produce something, I’m sure that on some level it would be more valuable. Yet to me, it could not do anything more than BE to make me happy. Its beauty in my life adds value. The sun, continuing to shine down in earthy Taurus, supports this deep connection to nature. Sometimes all we can do is take care of our immediate surroundings and make decisions that respect our values. It is not about anyone else. The moon is waxing into full on the 20th and right now is about half way there in the sign of Virgo, asking us to take [...]

April: A transformative month

By |2017-07-13T17:44:01-04:00April 27th, 2010|Guest Blogggers & Interviews, Mind, Body & Spirit|

Energy Posting By Brenda Harley Wild dreams and chaotic weather are continuing to reflect the inner turmoil that our earth is currently releasing, as we transition into a higher plane of existence. April is a transformative month and will continue to provide the impetus to re-write or do-over something from your past. Much like Judy Collins’ song lyrics, “I look at life from both sides now….” we are being invited to expand our point of perspective; to take a wide angled shot! Sometimes the tiniest details hold the most importance. My mother is visiting and it is a wonderful opportunity to re-live some old feelings. It is something like an echo and with my daughter also in the mix; I can see both the positive and negative traits. Those that a daughter may have perceived as negative, from the perspective of motherhood, now contain some very valuable positive qualities. It is a wonderfully expansive experience and I am grateful for the opportunity, as I watch my Mom interacting with us all. With both Pluto, April 5th, [...]

Finding beauty in an empty canvas

By |2017-07-13T17:44:05-04:00March 10th, 2010|Crisis, Loss and Renewal|

Rebuilding my life from the ruins of loss Five months ago, when my husband passed away, I started to spiral downwards. For a year and half prior to his death, I had tried to keep it together, to be the strong and supportive wife, mother, bread-winner and care giver. I couldn’t imagine how I would heal my broken heart or how I would fill the gaping hole that his passing left behind. When faced with such a dramatic life changing event, my whole world literally turned upside down. […]
