When we hear the word abundance, most of us think of money. The numbers in the bank account. The income and the bills. The pursuit of “more.”

But abundance is so much bigger than money. It is not a finish line to cross, nor a number to hit. Abundance is a living field we are always inside of, whether we notice it or not.

It shows up in countless ways: in the time we share, the relationships that sustain us, the vitality of our bodies, the creativity that moves through us, the love we give and receive. It is the friend who calls at just the right moment, the beauty of autumn light, the collective energy that reminds us we are not alone.

At its essence, abundance is the felt sense that life is enough, that we are enough, and that we are supported.

The Grackles’ Message

Recently, as I sat outside reflecting on these themes, hundreds of grackles suddenly swooped onto my property. The sound of their wings was like thunder, a rolling wave of motion and noise. Each time my dog wandered into the woods, a whole group would rise into the air together, chaotic yet beautiful, collective yet fluid.

It made me pause and ask: What is the message here?

Because so many of us are navigating thresholds or challenges around abundance. We invest energy into work or offerings that do not always return in the way we expect. Surprise expenses can arrive like waves. Savings may be dipped into, leaving us to question if they can be replenished. Debt can reappear just when we thought we had moved past it.

And this is not only personal. I hear it from friends and clients often. Some who have built strong savings but still fear it is not enough. Others who hold extraordinary gifts but cannot yet see how to translate them into sustainable income. Whether there is plenty or little, the story of “not enough” repeats itself.

The grackles reminded me: this experience is collective. We are not meant to walk these thresholds alone.

Reframing the Thresholds

The invitation is to see these moments differently:

  •  Money flowing out, even through unexpected bills, is not depletion but circulation. It represents safety, care, or love.
  • The work we put out, even when results take time, are seeds. Some sprout quickly, others enrich the soil for a future season, but none are wasted.
  • Savings are not a sign of failure when used. They are reservoirs built to carry us through natural cycles of ebb and flow. Tools of stewardship, not proof of lack.
  • And when we hesitate to invest in what lights the soul, the question becomes: am I choosing fear, or am I choosing trust?

This is the season of harvest. At times the harvest may feel thin, yet the fields remind us that cycles continue. What is planted today may come to fruition tomorrow.

The grackles came in force that day, their thunderous wings echoing what so many feel in our inner lives: noise, disruption, uncertainty. But also beauty, movement, and collective rhythm. A reminder that abundance is not quiet or linear. It is alive, migratory, and communal.

So I ask you, as I asked myself under their restless sky:
🌿 What old stories of scarcity are ready to be released?
🌿 Where are you being invited to trust circulation, to bless what flows through you?
🌿 And what would it feel like to see yourself as part of a flock, not navigating alone but moving together into what is next?

Because abundance is not static. It is a living current that continues to flow.
