Reclaiming Our Power Through Wholeness in a Time of Global Transition

We are living in a time of extraordinary intensity. Political upheaval, economic uncertainty, ecological instability, technological acceleration, and cultural fragmentation fill our awareness each day. Many people feel overwhelmed and disoriented, as though life is speeding up while their inner footing grows less certain.

In my work with people at major life thresholds, I see this not as a personal failing, but as a crisis of orientation. We have lost a shared understanding of how life organizes itself when it is healthy. Without that orientation, attention scatters. Energy thins. People work harder and feel less effective.

People are exhausted because they are investing their life force in the wrong layer of reality.

The deeper challenge of our time is not only that the world is changing, but that we have lost our sense of where our real influence begins and how wholeness is sustained.

I developed the Living Coherence Map as a way of making sense of what I was already seeing in people’s lives and in my own. It is not a theory. It is a reflection of how life actually works when it is in alignment.

The map reveals both where our agency is strongest and how wholeness is sustained.

Human life unfolds across multiple fields at once. We are inner beings with bodies, emotions, minds, and inner worlds. We live within families, communities, cultures, systems, and planetary ecologies. These are not separate domains. They form a living system in constant interaction.

When any one of these layers falls out of balance, the whole is affected. When they work in harmony, life flows.

“Change begins within, but coherence must exist across the whole.”

The Three Fields of Coherence

The Living Coherence Map reflects how life naturally organizes itself in three interdependent fields.

I. Coherence Within

At the center is Vitality, the coherence of mind, emotions, body, and actions. This inner field is the generative source of clarity, creativity, presence, and wise choice. When vitality weakens, life becomes reactive and effortful. When it is restored, energy begins to move again and meaningful change becomes possible.

II. Coherence Between

The middle ring reflects how coherence is lived day to day through four essential conditions of a healthy human life:

Purpose: values, beliefs, and awareness shaping direction
Nourishment: food, water, air, home, and environment sustaining life
Belonging: family, friendship, and community providing connection
Flourishing: the social and economic conditions that allow people to thrive

This is where most people feel misalignment first. When these conditions weaken, life becomes harder to navigate even when nothing appears obviously wrong. Chronic stress, loneliness, and quiet dissatisfaction emerge as coherence erodes here.

III. Coherence Across

The outer ring represents the larger field we live within:

Consciousness: spirituality, religion, ancient traditions, cosmology
Nature: the living systems of the Earth
Society: culture, history, shared structures
Systems: governance, economy, education, wellness, technology

These shape the conditions of life on a large scale. Over time, coherent individuals and communities influence their evolution. But coherence cannot be sustained if this wider field remains fragmented.

Vitality within a person and vitality within a civilization are not separate. They are reflections of the same principle operating at different scales.

When systems drift away from life, people become depleted. When culture loses meaning, communities fracture. When consciousness becomes detached from structure, insight lacks grounding. When structure becomes detached from consciousness, power loses wisdom.

Vitality does not arise from any single domain dominating the others. It emerges from right relationship across the whole.

Living From the Inside Out and the Whole In

The map shows that our strongest point of agency lies at the center and ripples outward:

Vital people create coherent relationships.
Coherent relationships reshape culture.
Coherent cultures redesign systems.

This is how societies evolve.

At the same time, coherence must exist across the whole. Inner change without social change stagnates. Structural reform without human coherence collapses. Life is not linear. It is ecological.

Our task is to steward vitality within, coherence between, and alignment across the greater field of life at the same time.

This is why coherence is the true measure of progress.

When life is lived in right relationship, qualities such as love, creativity, joy, freedom, peace, and meaning arise naturally. The Living Coherence Map does not prescribe the future. It helps us recognize when we are moving toward it. The New Earth emerges as we remember how life organizes itself when it is whole.
