This Month – A Summer Solstice Celebration

For our last Awakening Cafe before the summer break we will be hosting a special celebration of the summer Solstice. Join us in sharing food, dance, expression and ritual around a fire circle.

Summer Solstice is a time for celebrating the arrival of summer, a time of growth and joyful fulfillment. It is the longest day of the year, and as the seasons turn, we celebrate the magic, the movement and the passage from spring to the new season ahead. Movement. Words. Breath. And playful promise.

Summer beckons. Its joys call out to each and every one of us. Join us this Midsummer’s Eve as we co-create a dance together, surrounded by nature, rejoicing in the light and magic of Solstice. Laugh. Jump. Twirl. And pause. We are all dancers. Our words fill the air. Joy. Light. Earth. Sky.

We move with the seasons. We move with the sun. And the moon. And the stars. The millions of stars on a summer night.

Spring has sprung and summer is begun.

As night falls the light remains and the party begins.  This month’s Awakening Cafe will continue into the evening. As we look back on a year of new ideas, new friends and new experiences, we rejoice in the seeds we have planted, looking forward to the summer ahead.

About Carolyn (in her own words)

Active in the Montreal and Austin, Texas dance communities for many years as performer, choreographer, producer, and creative process coach, I also work as a freelance writer.

I have presented my poetry at the Yellow Door Poetry and Prose Series and at Hurley’s Pub as part of last year’s Solstice Poetry Soiree.

My creative writing and my work with dancers from O Vertigo, Montreal Danse and Metaspora Danse among others, is based in a deep-seated love of movement and in a belief that words, movement and images dwell in the heart of our very beings, available, compelling and urging us forward with each and every breath.
