The Awakening Cafe (Hudson, Quebec) is a monthly gathering of like-minded souls on the awakening journey to connect, express and expand. Learn More
This Month’s Topic: The use of Mindfulness Across a Variety of Practices
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgement.” Jon Kabat-Zinn, Mindfulness expert
The ancient Eastern practices of mindfulness, yoga and meditation have been on the rise in the West for the last ten years, with individuals seeking a myriad of physical and mental health benefits, including stress reduction. More recently, these traditional Eastern practices have been popping up in classrooms, corporations and even the halls of government. This month we are excited to bring three speakers from across North America who use the traditional practice of mindfulness in very non-traditional ways.
Something new on the agenda – a combined in-person and virtual conversation:
The Awakening Cafe will begin, as usual, with an opportunity to meet other like-minded guests and share tea and snacks. Then we will invite our speakers to join us for a live conversation, via the Internet from their homes in Toronto, San Francisco and Seattle.
Our Speakers
Deirdre Walsh, certified Integrative Health Coach, treasures women who are stretching beyond their comfort zone to explore what authentic leadership means to them. She helps them connect inwardly and mindfully to move forward on the path of “not knowing” with a resiliency that keeps them off the “crazy” train of stress.
Joree Rosenblatt, has a MA in Counseling Psychology and has developed her own curriculum for teaching mindfulness to K-8th grade students, as well as courses in the Foundation of Mindfulness and Mindful Parenting to adults. Joree teaches how to live with awareness, attention, and intention through the foundation of mindful breathing, body awareness, mindfulness of our senses, thoughts, and emotions, as well as developing a practice of gratitude, compassion and lovingkindness.
